In Loving Memory July 7, 1941 - June 13, 2009

I thought I would have a few years before I would be doing this, but then, I guess we all do. I apologize for waiting so long to put this up here. It has been a difficult month.

My Father, William Erby, passed away at 9:45 AM MDT on June 13, 2009 after a long fight with Parkinson's, Diabetes and Heart Disease.

He was born on July 7th, 1941, in St. Louis, MO. where he lived before moving to California as a teenager and joining the U.S. Air Force in 1957. He married his wife Donna in 1961 while stationed in Canada. Together they had four children, Treena, Tammy, William (me), and Andrea. After retiring from the Air Force in 1979, he moved our family to California before finally settling us in Colorado in the fall of 1985.

Before Parkinson's set in he was an avid hunter, fisher, golfer and ham radio operator. He continued to enjoy golfing until this past spring, when a fall broke his hip and set about the events leading to his passing. In late May, his heart stopped and it took the combined efforts of myself and the paramedics 25 minutes to get it going again. He spent a week in a coma before astonishing the doctors by coming out of it, as they swore he was too brain-damaged to ever wake up. A week later he took a turn for the worse and passed the next day.

He is survived by his Wife, four children, ten grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, the last of which was born 7 days before he passed. He was tickled to learn that this great-grandson had been named after him.
