They're at it again!!!!!

As I've been driving around Colorado Springs lately, I've noticed that the "religious right" is at it again. They're not happy with all the other changes that they've been forcing down everyone's throats in the past years, no! Now they've decided to pick on Halloween. I guess they feel they have a right to, since the politically correct crowd screwed up Christmas for them. As if that was really their holiday to begin with. There is so much of that holiday that is taken from Pagan tradition, I'm sure they're minds would melt if they only knew.

Any way, all of the churches in the area are attempting to change the meaning of this night as well. Instead of offering to host Halloween parties for the kids to give them a safe experience for the night, they have taken it upon themselves to change the name of this one night by hosting "Harvest Parties". It seems that they think that by changing the name of this one special night of the year, they can undo centuries of tradition.

Why do Christians have to be so biased against things that they do not even try to understand? I admit I am a little biased myself when it comes to "Christianity". I have seen too many people do too many bad things revolving around this religion, from outright bigotry to hate crimes, and worse. I'll admit there a some good people that are Christians, but it seems like the bad apples, the hate mongers, bigots and ignorant sheep outnumber those that truly try to make a change in people's lives without forcing their religion down others throats.

Halloween, All Hallows Eve, Samhain, and the list goes on. Even the Catholic church gave up fighting to remove it's influence from people's lives. Instead, they added a holy day the next day to attempt to counter the effects of this Pagan influence; it's called All Saints Day. Now there seems to be a united front by the other "main stream" churches to try and strike it from our consciousness. Give it a rest!!!! There are other religions in the the United States and around the world that do not share your point of view. Get over yourselves and try and let those of us that do practice something different keep our holidays. If you don't want to celebrate them, then don't. Just don't go and try to change the rest of us to meet your narrow view of the divine.

To my brothers and sisters out there who share in the neo-pagan traditions; Have a wonderful Samhain.

Bright Blessings to all.

What have I gotten myself into now???

I can't believe I've waited so long to post here again. Well, actually I can. I've been lax in a lot of things, but have started to get my act back together.

The Job I had selling cars didn't work out. Seems the economy being the way it is has not been good for business when you sell GMC's. They are great cars, but with the price of gas, not too many people want to buy gas hogs. I have been unemployed for the past few months, but start a new job next Monday as a cable TV installer. It's great money, but the first 4 weeks are training and getting licensed.

Along with that, I started back to college this week for the first time in 14 years. With the class load and the training I'll be going through for the job, I'm going to have to juggle this all together somehow. By the way, I want to say hello to any of my classmates that have decided to stop by and view my blog page.

Also, I'm still working (all be it slowly) on the next part of my story, so I hope to have a new part posted sometime in the future. I may have to put it on hold for a while though. At least until I figure out how I'm going to juggle all this together.

Burn out and changing careers

The last few months have taken their toll on me. The holidays are always a hard time, but this year they really seemed to drag me down. After 15 years working in the gaming industry I achieved burnout. So much so that I was actually almost glad when I was fired from my last place of employment. I was sick and tired of dealing with negative people - both co-workers and customers.

So I have changed careers. Not that I considered working in the casinos a career. It was more like I got stuck in a dead end situation and let it wear on me for too damned long.

As of last week, I now work for Mike Shaw Buick/Pontiac/GMC in Colorado Springs. That's right, I sell cars now. So if you plan on getting a new car or even a used car in the Colorado Springs area, then look me up.

I plan on making this my new career and doing damned good at it. No more will I settle for working from paycheck to paycheck. I figure if I can sell people on an intangible thing like gambling (which is basically what I have been doing for the last 15 years), then I can sell them THE vehicle they want to own. Notice I said what they want to own - not what I want to sell them. Big difference in thinking there. Plus it should be a pleasant experience for both the buyer and seller. We don't believe in beating people down to get them to buy a car there.

Anyway, that's about all I have to write about for today. I'm going to make entries into my blog more often now that I have a reason and am past the "holiday season".
